Barbara Wackernagel-Jacobs

Barbara Wackernagel-Jacobs (born June 5, 1950 in Homburg ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and film producer .

Profession and Politics

Wackernagel-Jacobs studied social sciences at the University of Mannheim and the University of Saarland . Subsequently, she was project manager at the German Research Foundation and at the Diakonisches Werk an der Saar.

From 1990 the SPD politician headed the departments for family and youth as well as women and equality in the Saarland Ministry of Health and Social Affairs. In 1991 she became State Secretary to Christiane Krajewski . On September 18, 1996, she took over the office of Minister for Women, Labor, Health and Social Affairs in the Lafontaine III cabinet , which she also retained in the Klektiven cabinet (1998–1999).

After leaving the government in 1999, Barbara Wackernagel-Jacobs took over the Saarbrücken film production company carpe diem . Since then she has been producing documentaries on political and cultural topics.
