Regina Görner (born May 27, 1950 in Trier ) is a German trade unionist and politician ( CDU ). She was a member of the CDU federal executive committee from 2000 to 2016 .

Life

Regina Görner completed her studies and academic career at the Ruhr University Bochum , where she did her doctorate in 1984 with a case study on Westphalia (published in 1987 under the title Robber Baron ). From 1985 to 1988 she was personal advisor to the Federal Minister and President of the Bundestag Rita Süssmuth , in 1989 she became District Secretary of the ÖTV Hessen, and from 1990 to 1999 she was an executive member of the DGB . In Saarland , Görner was Minister for Women, Labor, Health and Social Affairs in Peter Müller's first cabinet from 1999 to 2004 . From September 2005 to October 2011 she was a managing director of IG Metall . In the election in October 2011, she did not run for re-election. Since 1991 she has been a member of the federal executive committee of the Christian Democratic Workers' Union (CDA) . In 2010 she joined the Lesbians and Gays in the Union (LSU) as a sign against discrimination, but without being a lesbian herself . Regina Görner has been a member of the federal board of LSU since 2012.

The passionate choir singer was unanimously elected President of the Working Group of German Choir Associations (ADC) , the overarching and voluntary association of German choir associations active at the federal level. She resigned from this post in late 2011.
