Rita Waschbüsch

Rita Waschbüsch (born May 22, 1940 in Landsweiler ) is a German CDU politician .

Career

Rita Waschbüsch was elected to the Saarland state parliament for the first time in 1970 , to which she belonged until 1994. From 1974 to 1977 she was Minister of Social Affairs in the Saarland state government ( cabinet Röder V ), from 1978 to 1994 Vice-President of the State Parliament.

On November 18, 1988, Waschbüsch was elected as the first woman to chair the Central Committee of German Catholics , an office she held until 1997; to this day she is an elected member of the committee. From 1996 to 2004 she was a member of the television council of the Second German Television . She is a founding member and federal chairwoman of donum vitae , an organization of members primarily of the Catholic Church, which is active in pregnancy conflict counseling. She has been the foundation's ambassador for the pro missio foundation since 2017 .

Honors

In 1975 Rita Waschbüsch received the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class.

On January 24, 1995 she was awarded the Saarland Order of Merit.

On May 4, 2004, she received the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany .
