action

Cornelius is on a station at the South Pole . He researches the behavior of penguins . But the research funding has been canceled and he has to leave again. The other men on the ward are happy about that. These work for a private company that searches for natural resources. But the situation changes when they discover that a penguin has a ruby with him. Since the researcher Cornelius has carefully researched the penguins' trails, they hope to get to the treasure that the penguin must have found. Therefore they take Cornelius prisoner. However, the latter can break free and flees with the penguin.

12-year-old Anne is a passionate animal rights activist . Your father has absolutely no understanding for this. Anne only gets a little help from her mother. Anne is all the more pleased when her uncle Cornelius comes to visit. And then he also brought a penguin with him. Cornelius does not tell the family exactly what the penguin is all about. Since the research funds have been canceled, he wants to start a new expedition to the South Pole privately . If he found the treasure, he would have enough money for his research to be independent of the scarce research funds. For this he needs the penguin, because only he knows the exact location of the treasure.

Meanwhile, Anne spends a good time with the penguin, whom she named Amundsen - after the researcher Roald Amundsen . But the men from the South Pole Station are already on the trail of Cornelius. And that's how they find out that the penguin is now with Anne's family. Anne's parents are going away for a day. And so Anne suddenly finds herself facing the crooks alone. She manages to escape from them.

But the crooks take Cornelius prisoner. And finally they succeed in taking the penguin from Anne. The crooks then set off for the South Pole with Cornelius and the penguin. But Anne secretly managed to get on board. At sea she then frees Cornelius and the penguin. They flee in a mini submarine that was on board the ship. The penguin then shows them the way to the treasure.

But there is a curse on the treasure and they can barely escape the cave in which it was located. The only item that Anne could still pocket was a cross set with diamonds. According to legend, the curse is only broken when the cross is back in its place of destination in a church. Since they are passing there on their way back, Anne secretly puts the cross back there.

Since Anne is sad that she has not seen Amundsen again, they return again. And after Anne sees that the penguin is happy with his family again, they return home for good.
