Walter Henn (politician)

Walter Henn (born January 27, 1927 in Klarenthal ; † October 16, 2004 in Saarbrücken ) was a German politician ( FDP / DPS ).

Life

In 1951, while studying law, Henn was a co-founder of the Germania Saarbrücken fraternity . He received his doctorate in Saarbrücken in 1959 with the thesis “The constitutional situation of the Saarland during the transition period”. Henn was a member of the FDP / DPS, of which he was deputy state chairman for many years, since the mid-1950s. In the run-up to the vote on the European Saar Statute, he was committed to the integration of the then autonomous Saarland into the Federal Republic.

In 1967 Henn was elected District Administrator of the Saarbrücken district. He held the position until the district was dissolved in 1974. He then temporarily took over the office of President of the newly created Saarbrücken City Association .

Henn, who in the meantime belonged to the board of directors of the energy supplier VSE , was appointed Saarland Minister for Economy, Transport and Agriculture on October 11, 1983 ( Cabinet Zeyer II ). He became the successor to Edwin Hügel . After it became known that Henn continued to receive salaries from the VSE even after taking office, he announced his resignation in December 1983.

Honors

Henn was awarded the Saarland Order of Merit on January 19, 1976 .
