Reinhard Koch (born July 18, 1920 in Sulzbach / Saar ; † August 7, 2009 in Saarbrücken ) was a German economist and politician ( FDP / DPS ). From 1965 to 1967 he was Minister of Finance and Forests, from 1967 to 1970 Minister of Economics, Transport and Agriculture of the Saarland .

Life

After graduating from secondary school in Sulzbach in 1938, Koch began studying political and economic science at the University of Heidelberg , but had to interrupt it and took part in World War II as a soldier . During the war he suffered a serious wound, whereupon he was discharged prematurely from the Wehrmacht . On May 1, 1944, he was accepted into the NSDAP ( membership number 10.065.471).

Following his military service, he continued his studies, which he completed in 1945 with the examination as a qualified economist. In 1948 he was at the University of Mainz with the dissertation topic , the economic ties between the Saar and the German economy to Dr. rer. pole. PhD . Koch worked for the Saarland financial administration in 1948/49 and was a tax advisor at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Saarbrücken from 1949 to 1965 . In 1970 he became director of Saarbergwerke AG , and in 1975 also general representative. In addition, since 1970 he has been chairman of the management of Saar-Gummiwerk GmbH in Büschfeld .

Koch joined the FDP / DPS and was state chairman of the party from 1967 to 1970. From 1956 to 1960 he was first alderman of the city of Sulzbach. In the state elections in 1965 he was elected as a member of the Saarland state parliament via the state list . On July 19, 1965, he was appointed Minister of Finance and Forests to the Saarland government ( Röder III cabinet ) led by Prime Minister Franz-Josef Röder . After the death of Eugen Huthmacher , he moved to the head of the Ministry of Economic Affairs on June 22, 1967. After the FDP's defeat in the state elections in June 1970, he resigned from the state parliament and on July 13, 1970 also from the government. In his ministerial office he was replaced by Manfred Schäfer . In 1972 he resigned from the FDP.

Reinhard Koch was married to Annemarie, b. Beer, and had two children.
