politics

In 1976, Würfel became a member of the FDP . In 1982 she was elected FDP district chairwoman St. Ingbert (Saarpfalz) and in November 1990 the state chairwoman of the FDP Saar . After only two months, she resigned from this office in January 1991 because she did not receive the two-thirds majority necessary to reform the regional association. From 1990 to 1994 she was a member of the FDP federal executive committee .

Würfel was a member of the German Bundestag from 1987 to 1994. She entered parliament via the Saarland state list. During her time as a member of parliament she campaigned for a reform of Section 218 of the Criminal Code .

In the European elections in 1994 , Würfel was the FDP's top candidate, which is why she waived a list for the 1994 federal election . Since the FDP failed in the European elections with 4.1 percent of the five percent hurdle , Würfel received no mandate and subsequently withdrew from politics.

Documents about her activities as a member of the German Bundestag and for the FDP from 1984 to 1994 are in the archive of liberalism of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom in Gummersbach .
