Arno Walter (politician)

Arno Walter (born November 27, 1934 in Berlin ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1954, Walter studied law at the Free University of Berlin and the Saarland University . He passed the two state law exams in Saarbrücken in 1958 and 1962 . He then worked there as a research assistant at the Institute for European Law until 1966 and was also active as a tutor .

From 1966 to 1985 he worked as a lawyer in Saarbrücken. He was a member of the Constitutional Court of the Saarland from 1970 to 1985; from 1980 he held the office of vice-president there.

Until his retirement at the end of 2013, Walter worked as a lawyer in the Saarbrücken law firm , which he co-founded in 1966 .

politics

Walter belongs to the SPD. From 1974 to 1985 he was a member of the City Association of the Saarbrücken City Association , from 1979 as deputy parliamentary group chairman.

From April 9, 1985, Walter was Minister of Justice in the Saarland in the cabinets of Oskar Lafontaine and Reinhard Klektiven . He was replaced by Ingeborg Spoerhase-Eisel on September 29, 1999 .
