Marco Tullner (born November 1, 1968 in Wismar ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and Minister of Education in the Haseloff II cabinet in Saxony-Anhalt . From April 2011 to 2016 he was State Secretary in the State's Ministry of Science and Economy . From 2002 to 2011 and since 2016 Tullner has been a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt .

Family, education and work

Marco Tullner spent his youth in Klötze (Altmark) and Magdeburg . He finished the EOS " Otto von Guericke " in Magdeburg in 1987 with the Abitur. This was followed by one and a half years of basic military service with the NVA . In 1989 he began studying history and political science at the University of Halle , which he completed with a master's degree. From 1996 to 2001 he was a research assistant at Everhard Holtmann's chair for political science . Subsequently, Tullner worked for the former state parliament president (1994–1998) until 2002 and Klaus Keitel, who was in his last legislature (1998–2002) .

Tullner is Protestant, married and has two children.

Tullner became a CDU member shortly after the political upheaval in February 1991 and was active in party politics from that point on. From 1999 to 2013 he was deputy district chairman of the CDU Halle and from 2009 to 2013 chairman of the CDU local association Halle-Süd. In 2013 he replaced Bernhard Bönisch as district chairman of the CDU Halle.

From 2002 to 2011 he was one of four directly elected representatives from Halle ( constituency 37 - Hall II ) of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt and there, finance and science policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group. He was re-elected in 2006 and 2011 . On April 26, 2011, Tullner renounced his mandate, as he had been appointed State Secretary in the Ministry of Science and Economics of the State of Saxony-Anhalt in the Haseloff I cabinet on April 20 .

In the elections for the seventh state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt on March 13, 2016 , Marco Tullner was re-elected as a direct candidate in his home constituency ( state constituency Halle II ). On April 25, 2016, he was appointed Minister of Education to Haseloff II's cabinet . Tullner is still a member of the state parliament.

Internal party criticism

Tullner was exposed to internal criticism several times in his office as CDU district chairman of Halle. He was accused of disregarding grassroots democracy . Democratic candidate elections at the local association level were negated by him and instead exchanged with other candidates.
