Bernhard Bönisch (born August 2, 1953 in Halle (Saale) ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He has been a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt since 2002 .

Life and work

Bernhard Bönisch was born in Halle (Saale) in 1953, is widowed and has three sons. He graduated from high school in 1972 at the Thomas Müntzer School. With the NVA he completed his basic military service in the years 1972–1974 before he began studying mathematics at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (diploma 1979).

Afterwards, Bönisch was the IT organizer in the Halle energy combine until 1988 . From 1989 to 2002 he worked as department manager for operational organization and IT at the St. Elisabeth and St. Barbara Hospital. While working, he completed a degree in hospital business administration at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences (1997–2000).

politics

Bönisch acted as a moderator at the " Education Round Table " of the city of Halle (Saale). He only became a CDU member after the political upheaval (1991). From 1997 to 2013 Bönisch was district chairman of the CDU Halle and a member of the CDU state executive.

In 1994 he was elected to Halle's city council for the first time. He was re-elected in the 1999, 2004, 2009 and 2014 local elections. From 1999 to 2004 he was chairman of the city council and from 2004 to 2016 he was parliamentary group chairman of the CDU council group (2004–2014) and CDU / FDP council group (2014–2016). In November 2006, Bernhard Bönisch, as a candidate for the CDU, lost the runoff election for mayor of the city of Halle (Saale) against Dagmar Szabados (SPD). He was nominated again as a candidate for the CDU for the mayoral election in 2012. In the first ballot, Bernhard Bönisch achieved a relative majority with 35.30% of the vote. In the runoff election on July 15, 2012, he only got 47.08% of the vote and was thus defeated by Bernd Wiegand , who got 52.92% of the vote.

Bernhard Bönisch has been a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt since 2002. Re-elections took place in 2006, 2011 and 2016. He was a member of the committees for finance and health and social affairs in the 4th electoral term (2002–2006) and 5th electoral term (2006–2011). From 2006 to 2011 he was Chairman of the Audit Subcommittee. In the 6th electoral term (2011–2016) he was a member of the Committee on Home Affairs and Sport. In addition, he was a member of the Committee for Education and Culture until August 2012, when he was replaced by Edwina Koch-Kupfer , who had left the parliamentary group of the Left and joined the CDU parliamentary group . In addition, Bönisch unsuccessfully applied for the position of deputy chairman (2006) and sports policy spokesman (2011) of his parliamentary group. For the state elections in 2016, he again succeeded in entering the state parliament and has been on the committees for home affairs and sport as well as labor and social affairs ever since.

criticism

Bönisch is sometimes heavily criticized for the lack of awareness of his state parliament mandate. It is doubted that if there is little participation in parliamentary group and committee meetings, “under these circumstances, decisions in the interests of one's own constituency” can be influenced at all.
