Edwina Koch-Kupfer (born November 21, 1962 in Halberstadt ) is a German politician. She belonged to the parliamentary group Die Linke in the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt from April 2011 to April 2012 before she joined the parliamentary group of the CDU Saxony-Anhalt .

Life

After attending the polytechnic high school (POS), she switched to EOS in 1978 , where she graduated from high school in 1981. She completed her studies in 1985 as a certified teacher for German and history and was a teacher in Halberstadt from 1985 to 2002, a teacher in Herzberg (Lower Saxony) from 2002 to 2004 and in Vienenburg from 2004 to 2011 . From 2005 to 2007 she was the head of the German seminar at the Goslar study seminar and from 2007 to 2011 she was the head of an educational seminar there. In addition, she was a presenter in the first few years of the regional television station RFH (then TV Harz ).

Edwina Koch-Kupfer is non-denominational, married and has one child.

politics

In 2009 she was elected to the city council of Halberstadt as a non-party candidate on the list of the party Die Linke. In the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt in 2011 , she was elected as a non-party candidate in 23rd place on the state list of the party Die Linke in the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt . She became a member of the education committee. In April 2012 Edwina Koch-Kupfer resigned from her previous parliamentary group and joined the CDU parliamentary group. She also resigned from the Left Party in the Halberstadt City Council. Koch-Kupfer did not comply with requests from the party Die Linke to return the state parliament and city council mandate. After the 2014 local elections, she resigned from the city council; At first, however, she continued to belong to the state parliament. She has been a CDU member since the beginning of 2014. In March 2015 she stood as the CDU candidate for the mayor's office of the state capital Magdeburg and came in second behind the incumbent mayor Lutz Trümper with 10.08%. Since 2016, she has served as state secretary in the Ministry of Education of Saxony-Anhalt .

On May 9, 2016, Koch-Kupfer announced to the Vice-President of the State Parliament of Saxony-Anhalt that she was waiving her mandate. On May 17, 2016, Lars-Jörn Zimmer moved into the state parliament as a substitute from the CDU's election proposal.

On January 18, 2018, she was dismissed from her position as State Secretary and given early retirement.
