Everhard Holtmann

Everhard Holtmann (* 1946 ) is a German political scientist and professor emeritus at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg . Since October 1, 2012 he has been Research Director at the Center for Social Research Halle e. V.

Life

Holtmann studied history , social science and journalism at the universities in Münster , Bochum and Vienna and graduated in 1971 the Master of Arts . Four years later the doctorate to Dr. phil. The Habilitation in Political Science gained Holtmann in 1986 at the University of Erlangen .

From 1992 to 2012 Holtmann held the full professorship ( C4 ) for systems analysis and comparative politics at the University of Halle-Wittenberg . Since summer 2012 he has been research director at the Center for Social Research in Halle. He is currently in charge of five research projects there.

Holtmann is a member of the EUROLOC network and the Joint Research Group on Minor Parties and Independents , spokesman for the Collaborative Research Center 580 Jena / Halle (“Social developments after the system upheaval”) and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Federal Agency for Political Education .

His research focuses on party (system) research , local political research, policy field analysis (especially housing policy ) and historical political research.

Holtmann is married to Sabine Kropp and lives in Berlin .

According to the Zurich scientist Norbert Grube, his book Reunification before the fall of the Berlin Wall (2015), which he wrote together with Anne Köhler, “does not meet the standards of history and social science”.
