Elisabeth Menzel

Elisabeth Menzel , née Ebert (born February 2, 1908 , † March 23, 1979 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( SED ). From 1951 to 1952 she was Minister of the State Government of Saxony-Anhalt .

Life

Elisabeth Menzel had attended elementary school, completed a seminar for kindergarten teachers and then worked as a professional and carer. In 1928 she became a member of the KPD . She did not work professionally between 1936 and 1945.

After the Second World War , she attended an antifa school of the Red Army and in 1946 became a member of the SED. In 1946/47 she worked in the German administration for work and social welfare. In 1948/49 she attended the party college of the SED and worked until August 1949 in the Ministry of Education of Saxony-Anhalt as a consultant for pre-school education. She then worked as a consultant for social education at the German Central Pedagogical Institute (DPZI). In 1950 she was appointed a consultant in the cultural department of the Central Committee of the SED. After Richard Schallock resigned , she was Minister for Public Education from November 28, 1951 to July 31, 1952 in the government of Saxony-Anhalt led by Prime Minister Werner Bruschke . After 1952 she worked as an instructor in the teaching and education sector of the Culture Department of the Central Committee of the SED.

Elisabeth Menzel was married to Robert Menzel and was the mother of two children. She died at the age of 71 and was buried in the Friedrichsfelde Central Cemetery in Berlin.
