The Bavarian State Examination Office for Social Insurance (LPrA) is a higher state authority based in Munich . The office is located in the ministry building of the Bavarian State Ministry for Health and Care in the Munich district of Haidhausen . The ministry is also the supervisory authority of the Bavarian State Examination Office for Social Insurance.
The authority's task is to review the business, accounting and operational management of all state social insurance carriers (carriers of statutory health, pension and accident insurance, agricultural social insurance) as well as the Bavarian Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians and the Bavarian Association of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists .
Legal basis
The legal basis is § 274 SGB V. The highest administrative authorities of the federal states responsible for social security have to check at least every five years. The audit must cover the entire business; it includes the examination of its legality and economic efficiency. The health insurances , the associations and working groups of the health insurances and the associations of statutory health insurance physicians must submit all documents and provide all information that is necessary to carry out the examination.
According to an administrative regulation issued in 1960, 70% of the costs of the state examination office are borne by the social security institutions and 30% by the Free State of Bavaria . The tasks are entrusted to 1 head of department (50%), 3 heads of unit, 27 auditors and 6 other employees. In 2004, personnel and material costs amounted to € 2.8 million.
