District court Gera
The Gera Regional Court is a court of ordinary jurisdiction and one of four regional courts in Thuringia . It is based in Gera .

The district courts of Altenburg , Gera , Greiz , Jena , Pößneck , Rudolstadt and Stadtroda belong to the judicial district . The Thuringian Higher Regional Court in Jena is superordinate to the Gera regional court .
history
In 1836 criminal courts were set up in Gera, Schleiz and Lobenstein and the Gera appellate court in Gera . In 1878 Gera became the seat of the regional court with the Reussian district courts Gera, Hohenleuben , Lobenstein, Hirschberg and Schleiz as well as the Weimar district courts Neustadt / Orla, Auma and Weida . It was subordinate to the Jena Higher Regional Court. The present courthouse was built in 1898. In 1945 the higher regional court was relocated to Gera, 1950 to Erfurt . In 1952 the regional court became a district court . After reunification, the district court was re-established in 1993.
