economy
The small town has various businesses such as cafes, schools, banks, grocery and flower shops, hairdressers, key shops, brickworks, gas stations, small kiosks, etc. In the days of the Soviet Union there was still a winery and a canning factory in the vicinity. The residents often have their own garden in front of the house, from which they can harvest peaches, tomatoes, cucumbers, apples, pears, etc. The land is very fertile.
population
The residents are friendly and rather reserved towards foreigners, but always helpful. One rarely has the feeling that profit or self-interest are in the foreground. The cohesion of the families and their relatives is impressive. You give gifts or help yourself out in case of need. Every year at Easter, the deceased relatives are remembered in the cemetery, which looks like a grandiose garden in spring. There you bring food and drinks with you and eat with the other bereaved relatives, comparable to a party.
Infrastructure
The gas supply consists of pipes that are two meters high on supports from house to house with a pipe system, some of which are connected across the garden. Water pipes are underground. Wells are scattered throughout the village. If the water supply network is being renovated or is defective due to a broken pipe, water can be taken with buckets. Interruptions in the water supply of 1 to 3 days are not uncommon. Electricity and telephone supply work similarly; they are connected from house to house via overhead lines.
The village streets are wide and in relatively good condition, but as soon as you leave the city center, they are only partly asphalted, have large potholes or the roadway consists only of flattened, loamy earth.
