The Nordhausen Social Court is one of four social courts (SG) in the German state of Thuringia .

Seat and District of the Court

The social court has its seat in Nordhausen . The judicial district comprises the district of Eichsfeld , the district of Nordhausen , the district of Sömmerda , the Kyffhäuserkreis and the Unstrut-Hainich district . The factual jurisdiction results from the Social Court Act .

Courthouse

The Nordhausen Social Court has had its seat at Taschenberg 59/60 since 2009 . The over 3000 m² building was built as a “Prussian authority building” by the architect Karl H. Herborn (1899–1965) and served until 1945 a. a. as the seat of the district treasury, building construction office, land registry office and cultural office. After that, the NVA military district command was housed in the house until 1990. The Nordhausen district used it temporarily as an administrative building until 1996. The building then stood empty and fell into disrepair. At the end of 2007, the municipal housing company (SWG) acquired the office building and had it renovated.

Superior courts

The superordinate court of the Nordhausen Social Court is the Thuringian Regional Social Court in Erfurt . The Federal Social Court in Kassel follows in the next instance .
