The river Oster ( Ukrainian Остер , Russian Остёр (Ostjor)) is a flowing water in the northern Ukrainian Oblast Chernihiv with a length of 199 km.
The spring is located near the urban-type Dmytrivka settlement on the western foothills of the Poltava plateau . From there the river flows through the districts of Bachmatsch, Borsna, Nischyn, Nosiwka, Bobrowycja and Oster, before flowing into the Desna at Oster . The river is connected by canals with the Trubisch River , which flows into the Dnieper southwest of Kiev .
The important settlements on the river include Nischyn , Koselets and Oster.
