Philippe Ramos (* 1964 ) is a French director and screenwriter .

Life

Philippe Ramos grew up in the French department of Vaucluse . As a teenager he was given a Super 8 camera. It wasn't long before filming became his favorite hobby. With his self-made strips, he organized private demonstrations for his friends. He even made small preview films for them, which he showed two weeks before the planned premiere of his films. It was not until 1992 that he decided to make his film “Madame Edwarda”, for which a work by Georges Bataille was the model, accessible to a wider audience. Encouraged by the favorable reviews from film magazines such as Cahiers du cinéma and Bref , he switched to professional material and made three first short films, including “Vers le silence” and “Ici-bas”, both with Pascal Andrès and Françoise Descarrega in the main roles. This was followed by “L'arche de Noé”, a short film from 1999, his first feature-length work, “Adieu pays”, and “Capitaine Achab”, a short film from 2004 with Valérie Crunchant and Frederic Bonpart in the leading roles. Ramos filmed the material of the latter film in 2007 for the feature- length film Capitaine Achab again with Denis Lavant and Dominique Blanc .
