The Valladolid International Film Festival (Valladolid International Film Festival), abbreviated Seminci, is in the northwestern Spanish city of Valladolid instead held annually since 1956 Film Festival .

Until 1959 it was called Semana Internacional de Cine Religioso, from 1960 to 1971 Semana Internacional de Cine Religioso y de Valores Humanes and 1972 Semana Internacional de Cine de Valladolid - Valores Religioso y Humanes. The festival has been known under its current name since 1973.

history

Until 1972 the Seminci specialized in religious subjects. Famous participants were Ingmar Bergman , Luis Buñuel , François Truffaut , Andrzej Wajda , Federico Fellini , Ermanno Olmi , Sophia Loren and Yılmaz Güney .

The main prize in the international competition has been the Golden Ear, the Espiga de Oro, since 1974. Numerous other prizes are also awarded, including a FIPRESCI prize since 1996 .
