Damien O'Donnell

Damien O'Donnell (* 1967 in Dublin ) is an Irish film director and screenwriter .

Damien O'Donnell made his debut as a director and screenwriter in 1995 with the short film 35 Aside , in which he also worked as a film editor . Another short film followed four years later, Chrono-Perambulator , in which Charles Dance played the leading role. In the same year, O'Donnell directed his first feature film, East is East , for which he received the "Alexander Korda Award for Best British Film" at the 2000 British Academy Film Awards . He also won an Empire Award for Best Debut and the Evening Standard British Film Award for Best Picture . His next project was again a short film, which was released under the title What Where in 2000. Heartlands was created in 2002 with actor Michael Sheen in the lead role. Two years later, Inside I'm Dancing was produced, which was named Best Picture at the Irish Film and Television Awards . From 2012 to 2014 he was involved in the series The Savage Eye . In 2015 he directed two episodes of the Irish television series Clean Break .
