action

The painted Casa Uribe

In the old quarter of the Colombian capital Bogotá , a house is to be cleared and its residents put on the street. The residents include the old anarchist Jacinto, the unlicensed lawyer Romero, the transvestite Gabriel, a young revolutionary and an old woman with her seriously ill husband. While Romero tries to postpone the inevitable sacking with legal tricks, Don Jacinto develops the "strategy of the snail". With scaffolding and rope hoists, the residents secretly bring the entire inventory and even the walls and floors of the house into an empty neighboring house. Several times Romero has to reach into his legal bag of tricks to buy the residents more time. That is why he is attacked and beaten up by the house owner's henchmen. Nevertheless, the residents succeed in completely gutting the house shortly before the evacuation. When the police stand at the door, they transport the last remnants of the house - except for the front facade - with cars and trucks to a property outside the city. All that remains of the original building is the facade, which Jacinto uses dynamite to collapse with dynamite the moment the house is about to be stormed. The facade collapses and gives the owner and the police a view of a picture of the house painted on a wall.

Reviews

“A sympathetic vision of the triumph of common sense over the pragmatism of power. Because of the one-sided differentiation of the characters and its indecisive oscillation between drama and comedy, the film was not entirely successful. "
