Kairos film distribution

Kairos Filmverleih Göttingen - Kairos for short - is an independent German film distributor in Göttingen , founded in 1995 , which specializes in films from Latin America, Iran, Africa and films from young European cinema. According to its own understanding, Kairos wants to offer films "with properties" that clearly stand out from mainstream cinema. Kairos brings all of the films to the cinema unsynchronized in the respective original version with German subtitles ; the repertoire comprises around 80 titles (as of May 2010) . A selection of titles has also been released on DVD under its own label. Kairos is the only film distributor in Lower Saxony (as of May 2010) . The company founders and managing directors are Wilfried Arnold and Helge Schweckendiek. The distribution activity grew out of the joint work in the Göttingen municipal cinema Lumière . The name derives from the philosophical term Kairos .

The company is a member of the AG Verleih .

Cooperations

Since 2002, Kairos has been a permanent cooperation partner of trigon-film from Ennetbaden in Switzerland.

Since 2008 the company has been organizing the annual nationwide “Cinema Italia” film tour in cooperation with the Rome-based organization “Made in Italy”.

Awards

The company was founded in 1998 and 2000 with the lender price of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media excellent.
