The Arbeitsgemeinschaft Verleih - Association of Independent Film Distributors e. V. ( AG Verleih ) is a further representation of the interests of German film distributors in addition to the Association of Film Distributors .

AG Verleih, founded in 1999, represents the interests of more than 30 independent German film distributors as an industry association . It is primarily dedicated to maintaining, expanding and renewing the range of films in the cinema. The working group would also like to improve the economic and cultural conditions for the distribution of films from independent production companies, young directors, documentaries and short films as well as international films.

The AG Verleih also promotes communication and cooperation with national and international institutions and organizations with similar objectives. It campaigns against market barriers that make it difficult for independent productions to enter German cinemas, as well as against competition-distorting film subsidies , which damage the diversity of film art through the focus on large distributors.

Since 2017, the AG has been awarding the independent film distributors' honorary award every year at the Berlinale . Previous winners were Peter Sundarp (2017), Marianne Menze (2018) and Michael Wiedemann (2019)

AG Verleih is based in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg .
