Peter Sundarp

Peter Sundarp (born December 19, 1943 in Harpersdorf , Lower Silesia ) is a German film distributor and cinema operator . Sundarp founded Central Film Verleih and operates several cinemas, including the Cineplex Neukölln, the Titania-Palast and the Rundkino Dresden .

Life

Sundarp was born in 1943 in the Silesian Harpersdorf, today called Twardocice, a district of Pielgrzymka . After attending primary school in Kleinmachnow from 1950 to 1956 and completing secondary school in Berlin in 1960, Sundarp completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk. From 1963 he then worked as a businessman in the metal industry.

In 1966 he placed an advertisement in which he was looking for "a new sphere of activity". He received an answer from Horst Wendlandt's Rialto film , in which he was employed as the film director until 1970. Subsequently, Sundarp headed the film distribution company Tobis Film until 1994 . Then he founded Central Film Verleih as a platform for German film .

Sundarp was a member of the Presidium of the Central Organization of the Film Industry (SPIO) and was a managing board member of the Association of Film Distributors (VdF). He also lectured at the "Konrad Wolf" University of Film and Television .

On November 30, 2016, Sundarp was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany by the Governing Mayor of Berlin Michael Müller for his “commitment to German cinema” .

At the end of 2018, Sundarp left Central Film Distribution.
