Lender price
The distributor award is an award given by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media to commercial film distributors who have made a special effort to promote the distribution of artistically outstanding films.
Up to three prizes with a premium of up to 75,000 euros each can be awarded each year. The jury is made up of six expert personalities, mostly cinema operators or film distributors. The lender award has been awarded since 1977.
Criteria for the award
When awarding the award, the distribution of artistically outstanding films, in particular German and European films , is assessed , taking into account the cultural quality of the distribution work , the proportion of German films and other European films, the distribution of the films achieved through the distribution work and the maintenance of the repertoire .
Use of the prize money
The premium of up to 75,000 euros is earmarked for the distribution of German and European films. This includes the purchase of film licenses, rental costs, advertising measures and the production of new rental copies .
