history

The first written mention of the village was made in 1223 in connection with a Ziesce von Sovenice, who appeared as a witness in a legal matter. In 1320 the village belonged to Vok von Rothenstein . From 1384 Sovenice is passed down as the seat of Vladiken Ješek von Sovenice, whose descendants held the property until the 15th century. From 1407 Drslav von Cholenice was the owner of a small part of Sovenice. Further divisions took place in the course of the 15th century. The owners included u. a. Václav Čelák von Mečíř, Václav Herzan von Harras , Jiří Vančura von Řehnice, Jiří and Václav Procka z Cetně as well as the hospital in Nymburk , whose share was confiscated by Ferdinand I after the uprising of 1547 . In 1574 Heinrich von Waldstein bought most of the village on Dobrovice . In 1638 the Waldsteiners added their share of Sovenice to the Kunstberg rule . There was also a manor with a sheep farm.

After the abolition of patrimonial Sověnice formed a parish in the Poděbrady district from 1850 and came to Okres Nymburk in 1934. In 1899 a narrow-gauge beet railway was built, which led from Mečíř to the Vlkava sugar factory . In 1980 it was incorporated into Křinec. In 1991 the place had 89 inhabitants. In 2001 the village consisted of 57 houses in which 86 people lived. Because of the preserved historical folk buildings, Sovenice is a village monument protection area.
