Herzan of Harras

Hrzan von Harasov (Czech Hrzán z Harasova , also Herzan von Harras ) was a Bohemian noble family .

The noble family was mentioned from the second half of the 14th century. It came from the town of the same name with Harasov Castle in the Kokorschin area . In the 16th century the sex was divided into several lines. They escaped confiscation after the Battle of the White Mountain by bribing the Liechtenstein family . In 1650 they were raised to the gentry class, and since 1666 they were allowed to use the title of Count . Some members of the family held state and court offices.

The family died out in the first half of the 19th century.

Personalities

  • Adam († January 11, 1619), burgrave of the Königgrätzer Kreis from 1605 to 1615 , settled on Rothenhaus . Through his thrift and his financial and political skill, he secured and increased the family's wealth. At that time he was considered one of the largest moneylenders, whose clients included almost all noble families.
