Pontrieux ( Breton Pontrev ) is a French commune with 1,028 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Bretagne region in the Côtes-d'Armor department in the canton of Bégard . It is located on the banks of the Trieux River . The name Pontrieux means "bridge over the Trieux" (lat. Pons super triticum).
history
From the 15th century to the 19th century, Pontrieux was an active trading town in which mainly grain, linen and flax, wine and horses were traded. Until the 19th century, the bridge Saint-Yves de Pontrieux was the only link between the town of Guingamp and the sea, which made it possible to go from one bank of the Trieux (Trégor) to the other (Goëlo). The first tickets for the Paris metro were printed in Pontrieux.

Pontrieux is on the Guingamp – Paimpol railway line , which has a stop at the center and a train station at the port.
