The Canton Bégard (Breton: Canton Bear ) is a French canton in the arrondissement Guingamp and Lannion , in Côtes-d'Armor department and in the region of Brittany ; its main town is Bégard .

history

The canton was founded on February 15, 1790. From 1801 to 2015, seven municipalities belonged to the canton of Bégard. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of communes rose to 23. In addition to the previous seven communes in the canton, 7 of the 8 communes in the previous canton of Pontrieux , 6 of the 11 communes in the canton of La Roche-Derrien , and 2 out of 9 communes in the canton Plouaret and 1 out of 5 communes in the canton of Lannion .
