The canton of Dinan (Breton: same name) is a French administrative unit in the arrondissement of Dinan , in the department of Côtes-d'Armor and in the region of Brittany ; its main town is Dinan .

history

The canton was created with the reorganization of the cantons in France in 2015. In addition to the city of Dinan (whose districts were partly Dinan-Est, partly Dinan-Ouest), the communes formerly belonged to the cantons of Dinan-Est (Léhon), Dinan-Ouest (Aucaleuc, Quévert and Trélivan) and Plélan-le-Petit (Vildé-Guingalan).

In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the five voting pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, Brigitte Balay-Mizrahi / René Degrenne (both DVD) won against Anne-Cécile Briec-Lamé / Philippe Landuré (both Union de la gauche) with a share of the vote of 53.24% (voter turnout: 53.41%).
