The canton Pléneuf-Val-André (Breton canton Pleneg-Nantraez ) is a French canton in the arrondissements of Dinan and Saint-Brieuc , in the department of Côtes-d'Armor and in the region of Brittany ; its main town is Pléneuf-Val-André .

history

The canton was established on February 15, 1790. From 1801 to 2015, five municipalities belonged to the canton of Pléneuf-Val-André. Like the main town of the same name, the canton only bore the name Pléneuf until 1965. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of communes rose to 15. In addition to the previous 5 communes in the old canton of Pléneuf-Val-André, 10 of the 11 communes in the previous canton of Matignon were added.

In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the three voting pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, the pairing Marie-Madeleine Michel (Union de la droite) / Yannick Morin (Divers droite) won against Hakim Hocine / Marie-Reine Tillon (both DVG ) with a share of the vote of 53.94% (voter turnout : 61.24%).
