Ruca ( Ruskad in Breton ) is a French commune with 609 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Côtes-d'Armor department in the Brittany region . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Dinan and the canton of Pléneuf-Val-André . The residents call themselves Rucassiens / Rucassiennes .
geography
Ruca is located about 32 kilometers east-northeast of Saint-Brieuc and 25 kilometers southwest of Saint-Malo in the north of the Côtes-d'Armor department.
history
The place is located on a Roman road, but was first mentioned in the 13th century. From 1793 to 1801 the community belonged to the Lamballe district and the canton of Hénanbihen. It has been part of the Dinan arrondissement since 1801. And from 1801 to 2015 it was a municipality in the canton of Matignon . First mention of Ruca as Ruscha in a document of a wedding in 1232.
