The city is located on the Canal d'Ille-et-Rance , which provides a navigable connection between Rennes and Saint-Malo . Today the canal is only of touristic importance. About one kilometer northwest of the city, the Rance rivers flow into the canal from the left and Linon from the right. The course of the Rance, which was subsequently canalized, becomes part of the Canal d'Ille-et-Rance from here.
