Giuseppe Zodda

Giuseppe Zodda (born March 9, 1877 in Merì ; † May 28, 1968 in Teramo ) was an Italian botanist . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " Zodda ".

Live and act

Giuseppe Zodda was born in the province of Messina in 1877 . He studied medicine and then initially worked at the University of Messina and the University of Florence . In 1906 he qualified as professor of botany in Messina, but later moved to the University of Bari .

Zodda initially focused on the vegetation of the province of Messina and then all of Sicily. However, he quickly discovered his interest in mosses , on whose systematics he specialized. Later he wrote a three-volume Flora of the Province of Teramo .

Honors

The algae genus Zoddaea Borzi is named after him.
