Saint-Jouan-de-l'Isle ( Breton : Sant-Yowan-an-Enez ) is a French commune with 496 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Côtes-d'Armor department in Brittany . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Dinan and the Canton of Broons . The residents call themselves Saint-Jouannais (es) .

Saint-Jouan-de-l'Isle is located about 40 kilometers northwest of Rennes in the east of the Côtes-d'Armor department.
history
In the Middle Ages, the place changed the ruling family more often. In 1625 54 people died of the Ruhr and in 1638 the community was affected by a plague that lasted several months. On July 13, 1815, at Pont-de-l'Isle, there was a skirmish between royalists and imperial troops. The parish was part of the Broons district from 1793 to 1801. It was also part of the canton of Caulnes from 1793 to 1801, then from 1801 to 1881 of the canton of Saint-Jouan-de-l'Ille and from 1881 to 2015 of the canton of Caulnes . Since 1801, Saint-Jouan-de-l'Isle has been administratively part of the Arrondissement of Dinan. Saint-Jouan-de-l'Isle was first mentioned by name in the 13th century as a fief of the Montfort lordship.
