Tréfumel ( Breton Tref Ermel ) is a French municipality with 273 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Côtes-d'Armor in the region Bretagne . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Dinan and the Canton of Lanvallay . The residents call themselves Tréfumellois (es) .
geography
Tréfumel is about 35 kilometers south of Saint-Malo and about 36 kilometers northwest of Rennes in the east of the Côtes-d'Armor department.
history
From the 5th to the 12th century the municipality belonged to the parish of Plouasne. After that it was an independent parish. From 1793 to 1801 Trefumel was the canton capital. The parish was part of the Dinan District from 1793 to 1801. It was also part of the canton of Trefumel from 1793 to 1801 and then part of the canton of Évran from 1801 to 2015 . Since 1801 Tréfumel has been administratively assigned to the Arrondissement of Dinan. First mention of Tréfumel by name as Trefermel in a letter from the late 11th century.
