Pleudihen-sur-Rance ( Breton : Pleudehen ) is a French commune of the department of Côtes-d'Armor in the region of Brittany . Administratively it is assigned to the Arrondissement of Dinan and the Canton of Lanvallay .
geography
The small town with 2,909 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) is located in the northeast of Brittany on the right bank of the southern mouth of the Rance funnel, 20 kilometers south of Saint-Malo and is known for its cider . Pleudihen-sur-Rance is the easternmost commune of the Côtes-d'Armor department.

economy
Pleudihen-sur-Rance is famous for its apple orchards and cider production , which is why it is often called the “Cider Capital” ( Capitale du Cidre ). François-René de Chateaubriand from Saint-Malo remarked that here “plow and boat are only a stone's throw away” ( La charrue et le doris sont à un jet de pierre. )
Attractions
A special feature of the place is the Apple and Cider Museum ( Musée de la Pomme et du Cidre ), in a farmhouse. In addition to a large number of apple varieties and apple tree species, you get an insight into the local production methods of cider and can take part in tastings.
The neo-Gothic church Notre Dame (“Church of Our Lady”) was consecrated in 1878 instead of a Romanesque church and completed in 1880 after thirteen years of construction.

Pleudihen-sur-Rance has had a partnership with the Rhineland-Palatinate community of Herschbach since 1979 .
