Tréméreuc ( Breton Tremereg ) is a French commune with 744 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Côtes-d'Armor department in the Brittany region . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Dinan and the Canton of Pleslin-Trigavou . The residents call themselves Tréméreucois (es) .
geography
Tréméreuc is located about 9 kilometers south-southwest of Saint-Malo in the north-east of the Côtes-d'Armor department.
history
The community is located on the old Roman road from Corseul to Alet. But there are first traces of settlement only from the High Middle Ages. At that time a small fortress and a parish came into being. The parish belonged to the Dinan district from 1793 to 1801. It has been part of the Dinan arrondissement since 1801. And from 1793 to 2015 it was a municipality in the Canton of Ploubalay . At the Battle of Pleurtuit in 1944, 800 US soldiers died on the soil of the community.
