Saint-Carné ( Breton Sant-Karneg ) is a French commune with 998 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Côtes-d'Armor department in the Brittany region . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Dinan and the Canton of Lanvallay . The residents call themselves Carnéens / Carnéennes .

Saint-Carné is located about 26 kilometers south-southwest of Saint-Malo and about 44 kilometers northwest of Rennes in the east of the Côtes-d'Armor department.
history
Ax finds from the Neolithic Age , a bracelet from the Celtic period and other finds from the Gallo-Roman period prove an early settlement. The parish was part of the Dinan District from 1793 to 1801 . It was also part of the canton of Plumaudan from 1793 to 1801 and part of the canton of Dinan-Ouest from 1801 to 2015 . Since 1801, Saint-Carné has been administratively assigned to the Arrondissement of Dinan. A first mention of Saint-Carné as Seint Karnay can be found in 1256, when a Jehan de Seint Karnay is mentioned in a document .
