Saint-Denoual ( Breton Sant-Denwal ) is a French commune with 464 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Côtes-d'Armor department in the Brittany region . It belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Brieuc and the canton of Pléneuf-Val-André . The residents call themselves Guinguenoualais (es) .
geography
Saint-Denoual is located about 27 kilometers east of Saint-Brieuc and about 31 kilometers southwest of Saint-Malo in the north of the Côtes-d'Armor department.
history
From the 12th to the 16th century, the Famille de Saint-Denoual administered the place. From 1793 to 1801 the community belonged to the Lamballe district and the Plédéliac canton. It has been part of the Dinan arrondissement since 1801. And from 1801 to 2015 it was a municipality in the canton of Matignon . First mention of Saint-Denoual as S. Denoalus in a deed of donation from the de Saint-Denoual family to the Saint-Aubin des Bois Abbey.
