Mérillac ( Breton : Merelieg ) is a French commune with 233 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Côtes-d'Armor department in the Brittany region . It belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Brieuc and the canton of Broons . The residents call themselves Mérillaciens / Mérillaciennes .
geography
Mérillac is located about 40 kilometers southeast of Saint-Brieuc and about 52 kilometers southwest of Saint-Malo in the southeast of the Côtes-d'Armor department.
history
Mérillac was first mentioned by name as Merillac in 1427.
Smaller finds from the Gallo-Roman period show the first human settlement at this time.
The parish was part of the Broons district from 1793 to 1801. It was also part of the canton of Langourla from 1793 to 1801 and part of the canton of Merdrignac from 1801 to 2015 . From 1801 to 1926 Mérillac was administratively assigned to the Arrondissement Loudéac. The municipality has been part of the Dinan arrondissement since 1926.
