Trémeur ( Breton : Treveur ) is a French commune with 764 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Côtes-d'Armor department in the Brittany region . It belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Brieuc and the canton of Broons . The inhabitants call themselves Trémeurois (es) .

geography

Trémeur is located about 50 kilometers northwest of Rennes and 38 kilometers southwest of Saint-Malo in the east of the Côtes-d'Armor department.

history

The parish was part of the Broons district from 1793 to 1801. It was also part of the canton of Megrit from 1793 to 1801 and has been part of the canton of Broons since 1801 . Trémeur has been administratively part of the Arrondissement of Dinan since 1801. Trémeur was first mentioned by name as Tremur in 1249 in a document from Roland de Guitté and the Abbey of Boquen.

The increasing mechanization of agriculture and the high number of those who died in the First World War led to a drop in the number of inhabitants to the lows of recent times.
