Allineuc ( Breton : Alineg ) is a French municipality with 604 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Côtes-d'Armor in the region of Brittany .

etymology

Allineuc, or the Breton Alineg, comes from the expression al linec , which refers to le lin , the French name for flax .

geography

Allineuc is located in an agricultural region on the Ruisseau Le Mézel stream . About 500 inhabitants live in this village, which is a little more than 200 m above sea level. From Saint-Brieuc , the capital of the department, and therefore the sea Allineuc is located about 25 km as the crow flies. It's about 385 km to Paris (again as the crow flies).

The neighboring community to the south is Uzel . To the west, Allineuc borders on Merléac and to the northwest on Le Bodéo . Plœuc-L'Hermitage lies with L'Hermitage-Lorge northeast of Allineuc.

Population development

Since the beginning of the population records, the municipality has recorded a continuous decline in population. While 2713 inhabitants were counted in 1793, there were 1321 at the beginning of the 20th century. The decline in population has continued since the end of the Second World War .

Unemployment in 2006 was only 2.6%. Almost 75% of the population are gainfully employed and the remainder is made up of around 9% retirees and people in training.

Attractions

Sights include the church of St-Pierre-St-Paul and the chapels of Saint-Adrien , La Porte d'Ovain ou Dohen , Sainte-Anne de Langavry and Notre-Dame de Bon-Secours de Kergonan .
