Saint-Launeuc ( Breton : Sant-Laoueneg ) is a French commune with 200 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Côtes-d'Armor department in the Brittany region . It belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Brieuc and the canton of Broons . The residents call themselves Launeucois (es) .
geography
Saint-Launeuc is located about 43 kilometers southeast of Saint-Brieuc and about 53 kilometers southwest of Saint-Malo in the southeast of the Côtes-d'Armor department.
history
The name indicates an early medieval settlement. However, there are no documents from this period that prove the existence of Saint-Launeuc. The remains of a moth from the 11th century document a settlement from this point in time.
The parish was part of the Broons district from 1793 to 1801. It was also part of the canton of Plumaugat from 1793 to 1801, of the canton of Broons from 1801 to 1821 and part of the canton of Merdrignac from 1821 to 2015 . From 1801 to 1821 Saint-Launeuc was assigned to the Arrondissement of Dinan. Then from 1821 to 1926 the Arrondissement Loudéac. The municipality has been part of the Dinan arrondissement since 1926.

The increasing mechanization of agriculture and the high number of those who died in the First World War led to a drop in the number of inhabitants to the lows of recent times.
