Andreea Isarescu

Andreea Isărescu (born July 3, 1984 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian artistic gymnast .

Isărescu started gymnastics at the age of six at CSȘ 2 Bucureşti . Her talent was recognized there and she was recommended to switch to the sports boarding school in Oneşti. In 1996 she was appointed to the junior national team and at the Junior European Championships in 1998 she won four medals, gold on the ground and silver in the all-around competition, in jumping and with the team.

In 1999 she started at the gymnastics world championships and became world champion with the Romanian team. At the European Gymnastics Championships in 2000 Isărescu was fourth on the uneven bars and won bronze with the team. In the same year she took part in the Olympic Games in Sydney. With Simona Amânar , Loredana Boboc , Maria Olaru , Claudia Presăcan and Andreea Răducan , she won the gold medal in the team competition.

Due to a knee injury, Andreea Isărescu ended her competitive sports career in 2001 at the age of only 16. She finished school in Oneşti, graduated from the National Academy of Physical Education and Sport in Bucharest and became a fitness trainer.
