Plérin is a commune with 14,062 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Côtes-d'Armor in the region of Brittany . It belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Brieuc and the canton of Plérin , of which it is the chief town (chief lieu). The residents call themselves Plérinais .
geography
The municipality is located just north of Saint-Brieuc and borders the English Channel in the east in the Gulf of Saint-Malo . Neighboring municipalities are Pordic in the north, Saint-Brieuc in the south, Ploufragan in the southwest and Trémuson in the west.
The municipal capital is around four kilometers inland, the actual coastal town is called Saint-Laurent de la Mer . A little further north is the seaside resort of Les Rosaires on the Plage des Rosaires beach of the same name . The coastal river Gouët runs along the southern municipal boundary and flows into the sea with a small estuary . Here is the place Le Légué with its marina .
Transport links
The municipal area is crossed in a north-south direction by the departmental road D786, which follows the coastline to Saint-Brieuc. Coming from the west, the motorway-like N12 national road reaches the coast, swings to the south and crosses the valley of the Gouët river with a viaduct. Saint-Brieuc-Armor Airport is located in the far west, just across the municipal boundary .

With the Viaduc de Souzain there was a railway and road bridge over the Gouët, registered as a monument historique , which was built at the beginning of the 20th century, but was blown up and demolished in 1995.
