Brélidy ( Breton : Brelidi ) is a French commune with 297 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Côtes-d'Armor department in the Brittany region . It belongs to the arrondissement of Guingamp and the canton of Bégard . The residents call themselves Brélidiens / Brélidiennes .
geography
Brélidy is about 12 km (as the crow flies) north-northwest of Guingamp in the central north of Brittany. The western boundary of the municipality is formed by the river Jaudy over long stretches , the eastern boundary of the municipality by its tributary Théoulas .
history
Finds prove human presence since the Bronze Age. Remains from Gallo-Roman times have also been found. From 1342 to 1560 Brélidy belonged to the County of Penthièvre . In 1330 the community was first mentioned under the name Breledy . Up until the French Revolution, various noble families administered the area of the present-day community. From 1793 to 1801, Brélidy was part of the Pontrieux district . From 1793 to 2015, the place also belonged to the canton of Pontrieux . In administrative terms, Brélidy has also been part of the Guingamp arrondissement since 1801 . On June 11, 1847, the village of Kerhadic was separated from the municipality of Coatascorn and came to Brélidy.

The increasing mechanization of agriculture and the numerous deaths during the First World War led to a drop in the number of inhabitants to the lowest levels in the present.
