Bégard ( Breton : Bear ) is a French municipality with 4808 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Côtes-d'Armor in the region of Brittany . It belongs to the arrondissement of Guingamp and the canton of Bégard of the same name , of which it is the capital. The inhabitants are called Bégarrois .
geography
The community is located about 17 kilometers northwest of Guingamp and 20 kilometers southeast of Lannion . Bégard is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Prat in the north and north-west, Coatascorn in the north-east, Brélidy and Saint-Laurent in the east, Pédernec in the south and south-east, Louargat in the south-west and Pluzunet in the west.
The former route nationale 167 (today: D767) runs through the municipality .
