Chapel of Lansalaün

Paule ( Breton : Paoul ) is a French commune with 707 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Côtes-d'Armor department in Brittany . It belongs to the arrondissement of Guingamp , to the canton of Rostrenen (until 2015: canton of Maël-Carhaix ) and is a member of the local authority association Kreiz-Breizh . The inhabitants are called Paulois (es) .

geography

Paule is located about 40 kilometers northeast of Quimper and about 58 kilometers southwest of Saint-Brieuc in the southwest of the Côtes-d'Armor department. Paule is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Le Moustoir in the north and north-west, Maël-Carhaix in the north and north-east, Glomel in the east, La Trinité-Langonnet in the south and Plévin in the west.

Route nationale 164 runs through the north of the municipality . The Canal de Nantes à Brest also runs there .

history

In the period between the fifth and first century BC, a fortified Osismier settlement can be found here (district Paule-Saint-Symphorien ).
